Vineyards: Three Daisies

The Three Daisies Vineyard is a small cabernet vineyard owned by Brookdale on the Silverado Trail. This vineyard was planted by Mike Seitz in 2001, with the first harvest in 2004. Three Daisies Vineyard is special for many reasons. First, it was the first property Brookdale ever owned, having full responsibility for the grapes from planting through harvest. Secondly, the vines are tenderly cared for throughout the growing season by me and Charlie (and the help of good friend Oscar Renteria). And finally, the grapes are hand-picked by my family and friends each harvest. On ‘harvest day’ for Three Daisies Vineyard we all gather with picking knives and bins, pick out our row to harvest, and get to work. We follow the grapes to the crush pad and assist with the crushing, too. It’s a day for us to really get in the field and see what harvest, and producing wine is all about. It is truly about our love for Mike, and Brookdale Vineyards.     

 

Winery: Silenus Vintners, A Collection of Artisan Vintners

This multi-winery tasting room facility opened August 11, 2007.

  

Winemaking operations at Silenus Vintners are headed up by winemaker Craig MacLean. During this years harvest he plans to crush 330 tons of grapes for about 14 small, boutique producers. Eight of them, including Brookdale, boast Craig as their winemaker. 

 

The tasting room is headed by Scott Turnnidge, formerly of Napa Wine Company. The inside of the tasting room is elegant, modern and chic with a spacious curved tasting bar, accommodating groups of about 12 people.  The tasting fee is approximately $15 per person, depending on the wines tasted that day.  There is also a bocce ball court and tables next to the tasting room. The shared facility, Silenus “A Collection of Artisan Vintners”, is located at 5225 Solano Avenue in Napa (off Hwy 29 at Darms Lane).  The hours are 10-4 daily.  To make an appointment, please call 707-299-3930.
